Girls Net - A 6 week online mentoring program

"best hours of my life"

Mentoring to see them safely through challenging times

A safe space to talk while in the comfort of home

Healthy ways of coping

Practising self-care

Building resilience and confidence

Belonging to a friendly circle of girls

Girls’ Net is a six-week journey for girls equipping them for times of challenge. This course of six 1¼ hour sessions in a small group of same-age girls is guided by a trained Girls’ Net Mentor.  In between the sessions, girls have an interactive notebook online to prompt further exploration of each week’s topic.  Girls’ Net is currently held online for girls grouped by age (8-18 years)

The mission of the Girls’ Net programme is to equip girls for times of challenge and change, through sharing healthy ways of coping and practising self-care, in a small group of same-age girls in a private, safe space in the comfort of their own homes. By the end of the course, the girls not only have some down-to-earth tools for managing their emotions, but they’ve also had the shared experience of support.

 Feedback from girls:

"best hours of my life" (age 11)

"really empowering" (age 11)

"something to look forward to" (age 11)

“A chance to be with real girls who won’t judge or be mean, and to talk and discuss daily problems and learn new ways to think about stuff.” (age 14)

“Chatting with other girls and getting to know them and sharing your feelings about the topics.” (age 13)

Girls’ Net Mentor Program

The pandemic has significantly increased mental distress among girls, leading to heightened anxiety, social withdrawal, and a sense of disconnection from their surroundings.

In response to this growing concern, Rites for Girls has developed a short series designed to equip girls with tools to enhance their resilience during these challenging times. The Girls’ Net Mentor Program aims to inspire and empower girls through online mentoring and storytelling, guiding them to build inner strength and forge meaningful friendships.

By providing online guidance and fostering a supportive peer group, the program will model ways to thrive amidst change. Girls will learn valuable empowerment techniques and embark on a journey to strengthen their inner resources, emerging from these transformative times with confidence and resilience.
